The Kwanzaa Ball
A night of culture, community, and cooperative joy
What the Kwanzaa Ball Is
The Kwanzaa Ball is an annual, family-centered gathering rooted in the principles of Kwanzaa and the Nguzo Saba. Hosted by The 876 Project, the Ball brings together community members across generations to break bread, honor leaders and youth, uplift Black-owned vendors, and celebrate Black culture, creativity, and collective care.
More than a celebration, the Kwanzaa Ball is a space for fellowship, reflection, and connection — where tradition meets present-day community building.
Why It Matters
Kwanzaa reminds us that community is not something we inherit — it’s something we practice. The Kwanzaa Ball creates intentional space to live out those values together: unity, responsibility, cooperation, purpose, creativity, and faith in our future.
Proceeds from the Kwanzaa Ball support The 876 Project’s year-round work, including youth leadership development, cultural programming, and community initiatives such as Juneteenth in Queens. Through this gathering, we honor our roots while investing in the future we are building together.
